Regional Results and State Qualifiers.
Springfield Youth Wrestling Club qualified 14 wrestlers to the big show in Columbia, the USA Wrestling Missouri State Championship. Regionals had some tough wrestling with a few wrestlers just missing the cut off. Coaches thought that we wrestled above average at Regionals. Coaches admire the young men who had made it this far for all their hard work and bravery through practices and tournaments. Keep coming to practices for the entire year so everyone will have teammates to work with. The following wrestlers qualified in the top four of the Region which allows them to participate in the State Tournament.

Wrestlers, Coaches want you to remember something, If you are good enough to make it to state, you are good enough to win it all! Congratulations to the State Qualifying wrestlers and their families for their accomplishments this season. Special thanks to all the other wrestlers who have sacrificed this year but just did not make it. With out you there is no team! Remember for next season that if you want to get to where you have not been before you have to do things you have not done before.

Greco and Freestyle wrestling
I would like to encourage all of the SYWC wrestlers to learn Greco and Freestyle wrestling. Greco and Freestyle wrestling is what you will see when you watch the Olympics this summer. Our coaching staff is working on putting together a Greco and Freestylye program following the end of our Folk Style season.

District tournament March 8 at Nixa High School
Springfield Youth Wrestling Club will have 34 wrestlers at the 2008 District 6 Tournament. This is a record number of participants. We hope to continue this trend by qualifying a record number of wrestlers for Regionals and State. Top six wrestlers from each district bracket will qualify for the regional tournament. Sign-ups for regionals is immediately following the District 6 tournament.
