Missouri Stream Team event
As mentioned at the banquet the Grapplemaniacs have signed up as a group with the Missouri Stream Team again this year. It’s time that we do our second float and litter pick up. I hope to spread the word so we can collect a lot of trash and get some sun and exercise too. Please feel free to ask neighbors, family, and friends to join in our cause. Tell people about what you plan to do for the great organization known as the Missouri Stream Team. I have 25 canoes reserved now since 15 filled up already! Please call me as soon you know that you will be going and let me know many people so I can get more canoes reserved if needed. The bigger the numbers the better! Let’s go give back to the place that just keeps giving to us.
Coach Wait 417-849-4038
Last year was a complete success! The Grapplemaniacs did a Missouri Stream Team litter pick up on the Niangua River. Around 75 bags of trash were collected and a number of other items (porta potty, trash can, fencing, lawn chairs, tires, coolers and much more! This year we will have a jet boat going down stream with us putting larger items in the boat. Come and join us and help us “trash the jet boat”!

2 SYWC Wrestlers compete at Schoolboy Nationals
Two SYWC wrestlers represented the great state of Missouri in one of their best finishes ever in Inianoplis Indiana. Deshawn Clancy wrestled at 210 and Chandler Klein wrestled at 190. They both won more matches then they lost and had a great time. Chandler Klein was selected to the All tournament Greco team. These two wrestlers have shown courage in attempting new styles of wrestling and challenging themselves to wrestle year round. As a club we could not be prouder of them both.
Freestyle State Champion
DeShawn Clancy won the 2009 Missouri State freestyle wrestling championship in the schoolboy division 210 pound weight class. Chandler Klein placed second at the 2009 Missouri State freestyle wrestling championships in the schoolboy division 190 pound weight class. Both wrestlers will represent the State of Missouri at the 2009 Freestyle / Greco Dual Championships in Indianapolis, IN. this summer. Congratulations to both of these wrestlers. This is a big accomplishment for these two boys and the Springfield Youth Wrestling Club.
Tulsa Nationals
We had 4 Grapplemanaics go and compete in the “Toughest Tournament in the World” Tulsa Nationals! One wrestler walked away with the prestigious honour of being a Tulsa National Medallist. Chandler Klein medalled for the second straight year in Tulsa taking 6th place. Hunter Yeargan missed the medal round by one match. He almost upset the number one seed and the eventual champion from Ohio in the first round. I would also like to say Deshawn Clancy and Kenneth Shaughnessy both competed hard. Kenneth lost a one point match to be eliminated. Again, great job to the warriors that gave Tulsa Nationals a shot.
